Coach, mentor eller r\u00e5dgiver, kj\u00e6rt barn har mange navn. Funksjonene vi fyller, har uansett noen fellestrekk. Vi jobber med folk som vil mer, og de fleste av disse har allerede satt seg m\u00e5l som rommer b\u00e5de synlig endring og \u00f8kt mestring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Det som sl\u00e5r meg, og spesielt n\u00e5r jeg jobber med yngre mennesker med lederansvar (noe jeg gj\u00f8r ganske ofte), er at alle disse endringene helst skulle skjedd i g\u00e5r: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Jeg tok den samtalen du sa jeg skulle ta, men fikk den ikke helt slik jeg hadde tenkt. Hvorfor f\u00e5r jeg det ikke til?” <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeg lytter og tenker og reflekterer f\u00f8r jeg svarer: “Hva var det du ikke fikk til? Du gjennomf\u00f8rte jo samtalen?”<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etter hvert kommer det fram at frustrasjonen gjelder nyanser i spr\u00e5k, valg av \u00e5pningsreplikk og noen justeringer underveis som kanskje kunne gjort en forskjell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selv sitter jeg og tenker p\u00e5 det havet av s\u00e5kalt erfarne ledere der ute som daglig utsetter eller unng\u00e5r krevende samtaler, nettopp fordi de befinner seg langt utenfor deres egen komfortsone, og fors\u00e5vidt ogs\u00e5 kompetanseomr\u00e5de. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mot til \u00e5 v\u00e6re en d\u00e5rlig kunstner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I samtalen med denne unge lederen valgte jeg \u00e5 hente fram et sitat (fritt etter hukommelsen) fra Susann Gjerde, forfatter av “Coaching. Hva, hvorfor, hvordan”<\/a>, min f\u00f8rste l\u00e6rebok p\u00e5 dette feltet: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abDu kan ikke b\u00e5de \u00f8ve og se bra ut samtidig. Hvis du \u00f8nsker \u00e5 bli en god kunstner, m\u00e5 du f\u00f8rst t\u00f8rre \u00e5 v\u00e6re en d\u00e5rlig kunstner.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motet til \u00e5 \u00f8ve, og til samtidig \u00e5 t\u00e5le at det tar tid \u00e5 tilegne seg nye eller bedre ferdigheter, er viktig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I dette ligger ogs\u00e5 erkjennelsen av at samtalen hun fortalte meg om, ikke ble helt perfekt, og at det er helt greit. Uansett var den nyttig, som l\u00e6ring, som \u00f8vingsarena for ut\u00f8velse av lederansvar og som grunnlag for videre justeringer og personlig vekst. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ut\u00e5lmodighet som gave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u00c5 jobbe med unge mennesker er en gave, spesielt fordi de har denne ut\u00e5lmodigheten i seg. De har en aktiv vilje til \u00e5 utfordre seg selv. Samtidig kommer frustrasjonen fortere n\u00e5r resultatene lar vente p\u00e5 seg. Det hender jeg drar p\u00e5 smileb\u00e5ndet og sp\u00f8r: “Hvor gammel er du? Sett at du n\u00e5 var utl\u00e6rt, og mestret alt du \u00f8nsket deg, hvor kjedelige ville ikke de neste 60 \u00e5rene blitt?” <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selv fikk jeg min f\u00f8rste jobb med lederansvar da jeg var 30. Ganske snart sto jeg i heftige utfordringer knyttet til et bredt spekter av oppgaver som skulle l\u00f8ses. Da jeg midt i alt det komplekse, og som del av lederprogrammet jeg deltok p\u00e5, ble “utsatt for” en skriftlig lederevaluering fra alle mine ansatte, kunne jeg ikke v\u00e6rt mer s\u00e5rbar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ettertid ser jeg at jeg i hovedsak fikk gode score, med ett unntak. De fleste hadde fersket meg i \u00e5 miste fokus i samtaler, fordi jeg mentalt var p\u00e5 vei til neste m\u00f8te. Mine egne krav til meg selv om full oversikt, ble ogs\u00e5 mitt st\u00f8rste problem. Jeg hadde ikke forst\u00e5tt verdien av \u00e5 t\u00f8rre \u00e5 v\u00e6re en d\u00e5rlig kunstner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kunsten \u00e5 t\u00e5le seg selv i l\u00e6ring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u00c5 t\u00e5le seg selv i l\u00e6ring, er en kunstart. De som v\u00e5ger seg inn p\u00e5 den vegen, har uante muligheter til \u00e5 frigj\u00f8re egne ressurser. Men ferdig utl\u00e6rt blir vi aldri . Det er heller ikke et m\u00e5l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
