Du har kanskje h\u00f8rt historien om de seks l\u00e6revillige, men akk s\u00e5 blinde menn som p\u00e5 hvert sitt vis beskrev en elefant? De hadde aldri sett elefanten, men fortalte med iver og gl\u00f8d det de kunne kjenne med hendene sine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u00abEn vegg\u00bb ropte mannen som m\u00e5tte strekke seg p\u00e5 t\u00e5 for \u00e5 kjenne oppover den imponerende magen p\u00e5 siden av elefanten. \u00abEt spyd\u00bb utbr\u00f8t han som holdt en glatt og skarp elfenbenstann mellom hendene sine. \u00abAha!\u00bb sa en tredje \u00abden likner p\u00e5 en slange\u00bb. Vi skj\u00f8nner jo at det var han som holdt i snabelen. Forslagene haglet inn: \u00abEt tau!\u00bb – \u00abEt tre!\u00bb – \u00abEn vifte!\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisasjonsdyret<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Las oss n\u00e5 bytte ut elefanten med den organisasjonen du er en del av, det v\u00e6re seg familien din, arbeidsplassen din eller det nettverket du er avhengig av fordi du jobber alene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hvordan vil du beskrive din organisasjon? Det ville du ganske sikkert gj\u00f8re ut fra det st\u00e5sted du har. Din rolle. P\u00e5 en m\u00e5te er alle i organisasjonslivet blinde n\u00e5r vi skal unders\u00f8ke og beskrive \u00aborganisasjonsdyret\u00bb. Med andre ord: V\u00e5r observasjon er ikke objektiv. V\u00e5rt st\u00e5sted og v\u00e5r erfaringsbakgrunn vil p\u00e5virke hva vi \u00abser\u00bb, hvilke begreper vi vil anvende og hvilke konklusjoner vi trekker. Alle har vi rett og alle tar vi feil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daglige <\/strong>tilpasninger<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Enhver organisasjon er i stadig forandring om vi liker det eller ikke. Det skjer daglig tilpasninger til samfunnet rundt p\u00e5 alle niv\u00e5er i organisasjonen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et eksempel de aller fleste av oss kjenner fordi det utl\u00f8ste voldsom debatt var lovp\u00e5legget handelsn\u00e6ringen fikk om \u00e5 skjule tobakksvarer i dagligvarebutikker. De ansatte skulle h\u00e5ndtere m\u00f8tene med tobakkskundene fra 1. januar 2010. Det g\u00e5r an \u00e5 tenke seg et bilde som s\u00e5 slik ut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September 2009:<\/em> Ved den ene kassa p\u00e5 n\u00e6rbutikken sitter en ung student. Han skulle egentlig ha v\u00e6rt ferdig med studiene sine, men klarte ikke \u00e5 ta en viktig eksamen p\u00e5 v\u00e5rparten fordi hans mor d\u00f8de av kreft i mai. N\u00e5r denne eksamen er unnagjort flytter han fra byen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ved kasse nummer to sitter en r\u00f8yksugen dame p\u00e5 35. Hun er forbanna og mener direktivet griper rett inn i hennes privatliv og f\u00f8lelse av frihet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bak henne sitter en dame som er vokst opp under fjerne himmelstr\u00f8k. Hun har hatt jobben i to uker og strever med spr\u00e5ket. Hun strever ogs\u00e5 med \u00e5 forst\u00e5 kodene p\u00e5 arbeidsplassen og den lette tonen mellom ledelse og ansatt. Norsk politikk har hun ikke noe forhold til.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e5 bakrommet sitter en nyskilt daglig leder. Papirarbeidet har hopet seg opp og han stirrer tomt foran seg. Han tenker p\u00e5 at han ikke skal v\u00e6re sammen med ungene sine i jula og at han snart m\u00e5 ha p\u00e5 plass b\u00e5de ombygging og en strategi i samarbeid med sine ansatte for \u00e5 m\u00f8te den u\u00f8nskede utfordringen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sett at det var deg som skulle inn for \u00e5 bidra i denne fasen slik at ting kom p\u00e5 plass i tide. Da ville en forst\u00e5else av ulike understr\u00f8mmer, sjargonger og tolkningsrammer v\u00e6re helt avgj\u00f8rende for hvordan budskapet ville bli mottatt. Hvis ikke ville sjansen for \u00e5 f\u00e5 skivebom v\u00e6re stor. Du ville sitte igjen uten \u00e5 ha innfridd, mistet din legitimitet og den n\u00f8dvendige tillit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Og de ansatte ville fors\u00f8ke \u00e5 endre ulike elefanter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Det er da det kan v\u00e6re greit \u00e5 minne seg selv p\u00e5 det gamle diktet av John Godfrey Saxe:<\/p>\n\n\n

\nTHE BLIND MEN AND THE ELEPHANT
\nA Hindoo Fable<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n
\n

IT was six men of Indostan
\nTo learning much inclined,
\nWho went to see the Elephant
\n(Though all of them were blind),
\nThat each by observation

The Third approached the animal,

\nIs very like a snake!”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The Fourth reached out his eager hand,
\nAnd felt about the knee.
\n“What most this wondrous beast is like
\nIs mighty plain,” quoth he;
\n“‘T is clear enough the Elephant
\nIs very like a tree!”<\/p>\n

The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
\nSaid: “E’en the blindest man
\nCan tell what this resembles most;
\nDeny the fact who can,
\nThis marvel of an Elephant
\nIs very like a fan!”<\/p>\n

The Sixth no sooner had begun
\nAbout the beast to grope,
\nThan, seizing on the swinging tail
\nThat fell within his scope,
\n“I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant
\nIs very like a rope!”<\/p>\n

And so these men of Indostan
\nDisputed loud and long,
\nEach in his own opinion
\nExceeding stiff and strong,
\nThough each was partly in the right,
\nAnd all were in the wrong!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

So, oft in theologic wars
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
