Vi mennesker har en tendens til \u00e5 tolke ny informasjon basert p\u00e5 det vi allerede har bestemt oss for. Dette fenomenet er en del av det som i psykologien kalles for en kognitiv bias. Det finnes mange kognitive biaser og i denne sammenhengen er det som kalles for bekreftelsestendens verdt \u00e5 merke seg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bekreftelsestendens <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bekreftelsestendens er at man legger merke til eller s\u00f8ker etter bekreftelse p\u00e5 noe man allerede er overbevist om. Dette gj\u00f8r oss s\u00e5rbare for \u00e5 ta feil, fordi vi overser informasjon som tilsier at vi burde endre oppfatning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overskriften er valgt fordi jeg antok at en slik uttalelse vil bryte med hva mange av leserne til tilt<\/em>.work mener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For \u00e5 bryte en kognitiv bias kreves det ofte mye innsats. For noen holder det \u00e5 f\u00e5 presentert fakta p\u00e5 en strukturert m\u00e5te i rolige former, for andre vil mer fakta om problemstillingen bare f\u00f8re til at enda en kognitiv bias v\u00e5kner til live: kognitiv dissonans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab… \u00e5 v\u00e6re offer for kognitiv bias er omtrent s\u00e5 menneskelig som det blir\u00bb<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dette er et ubehag som oppst\u00e5r n\u00e5r tanker og presentert kunnskap ikke stemmer overens med det man faktisk gj\u00f8r. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La oss si at du har for vane \u00e5 kun ansette de som ligner p\u00e5 deg og har gjort det gjennom hele din karriere. Det er da stor sannsynlighet for at du vil oppleve en kognitiv dissonans n\u00e5r noen pr\u00f8ver \u00e5 fortelle at dette handlingsm\u00f8nsteret ikke n\u00f8dvendigvis gir best resultat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dette gj\u00f8r deg ikke til et d\u00e5rlig menneske, det \u00e5 v\u00e6re offer for kognitiv bias er omtrent s\u00e5 menneskelig som det blir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kognitive biaser kan dog gj\u00f8re deg til en d\u00e5rligere leder, hvis du ikke er klar over effekten og hvordan disse p\u00e5virker din evne til \u00e5 vurdere informasjon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e5r det kommer til mangfoldsteam og mangfoldsledelse blir disse effektene ekstra synlige, fordi mange av oss f\u00e5r v\u00e5rt eksisterende syn best\u00e5ende av manglende kunnskap, stereotyping og antakelser utfordret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hva sier forskningen om l\u00f8nnsomhet?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hvis man s\u00f8ker, finnes det mer enn nok bevis p\u00e5 at mangfold kan v\u00e6re en av flere faktorer som f\u00f8rer til finansiell l\u00f8nnsomhet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Gompers og Silpa Kovvali er to av utallige forskere p\u00e5 mangfold og effekten av dette p\u00e5 bedrifter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abMangfold er en signifikant faktor n\u00e5r det kommer til finansielle resultater og l\u00f8nnsomme investeringer\u00bb<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I et av fors\u00f8kene deres ville de g\u00e5 rett til roten av problemstillingen med f\u00e6rrest mulig distraksjoner. De kom derfor frem til at de ville se p\u00e5 selskaper som jobber med risikokapital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etter \u00e5 ha analysert flere tusen selskaper og titusener transaksjoner er deres konklusjon krystallklar: Mangfold er en signifikant faktor n\u00e5r det kommer til finansielle resultater og l\u00f8nnsomme investeringer.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

De fant blant annet at der hvor alle andre faktorer var tilsvarende, var det 11,5% mindre sjanse for \u00e5 lykkes med en transaksjon der hvor de hadde en homogen sammensetning av kompetanse (valg av skole f.eks.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e5r det kommer til etnisitet fant de enda st\u00f8rre effekt, hvor homogene milj\u00f8er hadde en suksessrate p\u00e5 26,4% mot en suksessrate p\u00e5 32,2%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Det finnes mange slike unders\u00f8kelser, det generelle trekket er at de viser at mangfold er l\u00f8nnsomt for bedriften eller organisasjonen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anekdotisk bevis og deg<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For mange vil fakta og forskning ikke v\u00e6re det som gj\u00f8r at de ser p\u00e5 mangfoldsteam p\u00e5 en annen m\u00e5te. De trenger \u00e5 h\u00f8re praktiske erfaringer fra folk de stoler p\u00e5, dette er det som blir referert til som anekdotiske bevis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e5r Petter Stordalen, i sine glansdager, st\u00e5r p\u00e5 scenen og forteller om hvor fantastisk det er \u00e5 lede en bedrift med mangfold har det en enorm p\u00e5virkning. Det g\u00e5r ikke up\u00e5aktet hen at en av Norges skarpeste forretningspersoner, med et av Norges r\u00e5este analytikerteam bak seg mener at mangfold er veien \u00e5 g\u00e5.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Du trenger ikke \u00e5 v\u00e6re Stordalen eller kjendis for at din positive erfaring med mangfold skal p\u00e5virke til et bedre og \u00e5pnere samfunn. Dette gj\u00f8r vi sammen, en historie og en kognitiv bias av gangen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
