En venn fortalte at han sluttet \u00e5 r\u00f8yke for 12 \u00e5r siden. (\u00ab12 \u00e5r, tre m\u00e5neder, 2 uker, fire dager, fem timer og 26 minutter, for \u00e5 v\u00e6re helt n\u00f8yaktig\u00bb, la han til.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abDa hadde jeg r\u00f8kt i 24 \u00e5r, og fors\u00f8kt \u00e5 slutte i 23 og et halvt, fortalte han. – Gang p\u00e5 gang la jeg bort sigarettene. Selvrespekten led. Jeg hadde jo ingen viljestyrke.\u00bb <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferdigheter, ikke viljestyrke<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Til slutt skj\u00f8nte han at det ikke handler om viljestyrke. Det handler bare om ferdigheter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abJeg ble nysgjerrig p\u00e5 min egen utilstrekkelighet, og oppdaget at dette egentlig handler om manglende ferdigheter i \u00e5 v\u00e6re en ikke-r\u00f8yker. Jeg trente. Til slutt ble jeg god.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En venninne jo-jo-slanket seg i en \u00e5rrekke. S\u00e5 utnevnte hun seg selv til forsker og forskningsobjekt. Daglig unders\u00f8kte hun sammenhenger mellom \u00e5rsak og virkning, ikke som en dommer, men som en forsker. Gradvis tilpasset hun sine spisevaner basert p\u00e5 sin nye kunnskap.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u00abGj\u00f8r mer av det som virker, og mindre av det som ikke virker.\u00bb<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Endringsagenter skal ikke d\u00f8mme, de skal forske. Enten det er personlige eller organisatoriske endringer, er oppskriften enkel : Vit hva du vil endre, og finn ut hva som virker og hva som ikke virker. Gj\u00f8r mer av det som virker, og mindre av det som ikke virker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fem fundamenter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I boken Change Anything<\/a> beskriver forfatterne fem fundamenter \u00e5 bygge p\u00e5 n\u00e5r du \u00f8nsker \u00e5 endre noe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Elsk det du hater: <\/strong>\u00abIf you can’t be with the one you love, love the one your with\u00bb, var omkvedet i en gammel sang. Skal du lykkes med endring m\u00e5 du gj\u00f8re den nyttige atferden lystbetont. <\/li>
  2. Tren ferdigheter: <\/strong>Dersom endringen krever mye viljestyrke er det sannsynligvis fordi du mangler ferdigheter. Det er ikke din svake karakter som har skylden. Problemet er ikke at du er svak, men det kan v\u00e6re at du er uvitende. Uvitenhet kan repareres. M\u00e5lrettet trening gir deg de ferdighetene du trenger.<\/li>
  3. Gj\u00f8r \u00abmedskyldige\u00bb til alliansepartnere: <\/strong>De f\u00e6rreste har forst\u00e5tt hvor sterkt andre underminerer deres endringsfors\u00f8k gjennom \u00e5 oppmuntre og tilrettelegge for d\u00e5rlige vaner. Intensjonene er som regel gode. S\u00e5 snakk med dem. P\u00e5pek p\u00e5 en god m\u00e5te adferd som river ned. Ofte er \u00e9n samtale nok. Elimin\u00e9r motspillere og rekrutter medspillere, s\u00e5 \u00f8ker sjansen for suksess dramatisk.<\/li>
  4. Bruk bestikkelser og omvendt bel\u00f8nning: <\/strong>Bestikkelser kan v\u00e6re forbl\u00f8ffende effektivt, ogs\u00e5 n\u00e5r du bestikker deg selv. Du kan ogs\u00e5 bruke omvendt bel\u00f8nning. Det ligger i menneskets natur \u00e5 tenke kortsiktig. En glede i dag veier mye tyngre enn bel\u00f8nningen du ikke f\u00e5r i morgen. Bruk denne innebygde irrasjonaliteten til din fordel. Snu \u00f8konomien p\u00e5 hodet, og s\u00f8rg for at feil atferd koster. Min coach fikk meg en gang til \u00e5 g\u00e5 med p\u00e5 at han skulle gi 500 av mine kroner til en organisasjon jeg foraktet hver gang jeg ikke gjorde som jeg sa. De fikk aldri en krone.<\/li>
  5. Kontroller omgivelsene dine:<\/strong> V\u00e5re omgivelser styrer v\u00e5re tanker, f\u00f8lelser og handlinger i overraskende stor grad. Skal du ha kontroll over livet, m\u00e5 du ogs\u00e5 ta kontroll over milj\u00f8et. L\u00e6r \u00e5 bruke avstand, signaler, og verkt\u00f8y i din fav\u00f8r, og du verver milj\u00f8et som en sterk alliert. Fjern fristelser og p\u00e5minnelser om det som var, omgi deg med symboler for \u00e5 minne deg om det som kommer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Husk at alt handler om perspektivet du inntar. N\u00e5r du endrer m\u00e5ten du ser p\u00e5, endrer det du ser p\u00e5 seg ogs\u00e5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
